It also has the added benefit of being impact-resistant. If the safe were to fall through a floor that has been weakened by fire it will not break open. It can also withstand blows from a sledgehammer as well. The UL impact test calls for the safe to be heated to 1550 degrees F for 30 minutes then dropped onto concrete rubble from a height of 30 feet. The safe is then reheated and dropped again and the safe must maintain the contents in both drops, and the contents must remain undamaged.
